ABOUT ABOUT

Family businesses should be applauded as they make up around 85% of UK Businesses, employ 13.4 million people and typically demonstrate strong values and a commitment to local communities. However, anyone in a Family Business knows that they face unique performance and governance challenges and many of the problems that exist in corporate business environments can be exaggerated.  Properly documenting and structuring the family business requires consensus on the key issues and we will hear from three experts who are experienced in supporting families, helping the business grow. We will also explore solutions where consensus proves difficult, or when disputes are well entrenched.

Whilst open to everyone, this event will add benefit to those in Family Businesses as well as all those who advise them in some capacity.

Attendees will get a better understanding of:

• The importance of planning, good housekeeping and governance

• Issues relevant to the ownership and management of the company, now and in the future

• Getting the constitutional documents right

• Joining up with personal affairs

• Mediation and how successful it is in resolving conflict

Attendees will also hear from George Bryan who has first-hand experience of growing up in a Family Business and is a certified Family Business Consultant, supporting other families in business.

Speakers:

Paul Hunt, Partner at Higgs & Sons and Head of Business Succession Planning

George Bryan, Director at Drayton Manor Park and a certified Family Business Consultant

Tim Jones, Partner at Higgs & Sons and recognised by Chambers and Partners as one of the Top 35 Mediators in the UK with a wealth of experience in resolving family business disputes
