In 2020 very few of us in business here in the Black Country have avoided being negatively affected in some way by the coronavirus pandemic. For many, there has been a lot of extra stress added upon the everyday challenges of running our business.

So, looking to the future, in this workshop I'm going to explain what mental fitness is and how it can help you come into a post-COVID world better and more able to meet challenges both in business and life with a positive mindset.

Just like your body needs certain activities to stay fit and capable, your mind requires intentional training and guidance to stay strong and orientated. A key aspect to cultivate better mental fitness as a local business person is to understand how you self-sabotage: the behavioural patterns that are causing you fear/stress/anxiety and stopping you from performing better or achieving more.

In this workshop, I’ll be talking about 3 common self-sabotaging personas, how they are affecting your business operations, practical measures you can take to avoid the negative effects as well as commanding your mind to remain clear-headed and focused.

This workshop includes:
• An overview of mental fitness: what is it and how it’s relevant to all of us;
• Identifying 3 common “Saboteurs” (self-sabotaging behavior pattern): the Judge, the Avoider (procrastinator) and the Hyper-Vigilant (constant worrier).
• Introducing practical measures to self-command.

The event is suitable for business owners, team leaders, startup solopreneur/entrepreneur, or anyone that is interested in gaining better adaptability and positive mindset for their career or business growth.

Attendees will gain the following information:

1. An understanding of what Mental Fitness is.
2. A new sense of self-awareness: knowing which parts of them that are not helping themselves to succeed, to be fulfilled and happy.
3. An insight into building self-command brain muscles: small steps to take in any business circumstance/ situation to train their mind to stop chattering and stay focused.

Agenda:

10:00 – 10:15am: Opening, Zoom check-in, simple reminders on Zoom etiquette, a brief introduction of myself and then a breathing exercise to get all attendees grounded and focused.

10:15 – 10:30am: An overview of Mental Fitness: what is it, how is it measured, how it is relevant to us and our business performance?

10:30 – 11:00am: There are 10 universal self-sabotaging behavior patterns, aka the Saboteurs. They are the root causes of our negative emotions, i.e. stress, anxiety, self-doubt, frustration, shame, guilt and so on. To improve our Mental Fitness, we must first understand which of these patterns are “running our shows”.

For this workshop, I’ll be talking about 3 common Saboteurs that we can all resonate with: in the Judge (harsh critic), the Avoider (procrastinator) and the Hyper-Vigilant (constant worrier). Specifically, I’ll identify their characteristics, feelings, thoughts and impacts.

Attendees will be given a brief moment to reflect on how they’re being affected by these 3 saboteurs.

11:00 -11:15am: I’ll introduce 3 practical exercises to build our self-command brain muscles. These exercises can be done with our eyes open, in any business situations and will immediately activate the brain areas that calms ourselves down. We’ll be refocused and able to make better decisions.

11:15 – 11:30 Special offer and opportunity for BCBF attendees. Q&A. Closing.
